The Poland women’s national team made its international debut in 1981. Surprisingly, given the countries’ rich soccer history and pedigree, the national team has yet to qualify for any major tournament, although encouragingly they have appeared in 3 Algarve Cup tourneys, an internationally recognized women’s tourney, 3 times, and were runners up in 2019. The Ekstraliga is the highest league in women’s soccer in Poland and has 12 teams, and dates back to 1979. The most successful club has been Czarni Sosnowiec with 12 league titles, followed AZS Wroclaw with 8 titles, and RTP Unia with 5.
