Crystal Palace midfielder Eberichi Eze credits the input of manager Roy Hodgson for his England call this week.
Eze’s form surge coincided with Hodgson’s arrival last season after the sacking of Patrick Vieira.
He said, “I am very grateful to Roy and his assistant Ray Lewington for all they did helping me to regain form. They helped me massively with performances and my mental state. He has been very, very helpful, advising me all the time.
“He has insane wisdom so it is good to hear what he has to say. You can see from what he did throughout all that time how effective he was, the influence he had on the players, the mindset the confidence the freedom, it was something we hadn’t experienced for a little while.
“You could see from the performances the confidence we had. Day to day seeing him around the place and how he takes to each individual player, it has helped me so much.”
