Chelsea have triggered a 12-month option in Ian Maatsen‘s contract.
The Evening Standard says after the fullback twice rejected new contract offers, the club has acted unilaterly and triggered the clause.
It means Maatsen is now tied to Chelsea until 2025.
He spent last season with Burnley and is interesting Barcelona and Manchester City this season.
Maatsen has played just 83 minutes in the Premier League this season amid competition from Ben Chilwell, Levi Colwill and Marc Cucurella.
