Soccer, also known as football, is very popular in Côte d’Ivoire. The country has a strong national league, with several top-tier clubs competing against each other. The Ivorian national team, commonly known as Les Éléphants, is one of the most successful in Africa, having won the Africa Cup of Nations twice and reaching the World Cup in Germany in 2006. Some of the notable clubs in Côte d’Ivoire include ASEC Mimosas, Africa Sports, and FC San Pedro. Soccer is widely played and supported by the local community, with many young people taking up the sport as a passion.
